Life in sg Oct07

Today is 5th OCt. Happy Birthday Karen!

I think i need friends. and yes, actually i do have them. but somehow i could find no one to talk to, no one to hang out with in the middle of the night when i need to talk to somebody. I never felt lonely when i was in ncl, though my family was not with me. but in sg, when my family is just beside me, everyday, i feel more lonely than ever. so much so that i wish i had some space of my own. The invading space that i have is not sufficient for my apetite i guess. i miss the life i used to lead. i miss the me back then, i miss the me who dun care about wat others think. i think i am hating the me now. haiz.

Sentosa!

Today was a good day. overall.

I appreciate my own effort in getting out of the house to sentosa.
I appreciate the sms I sent to a rotting man in his house to get to sentosa.
I appreciate my own perserverance in getting to the correct beach and crowd, after like a 1.5hr walk.
I appreciate the dumb game I played at Sentosa, where I was one of the 2 who crossed the final line.
I appreciate the ultimate frisbee tt left me gasping for air and all the falls I made.
I appreciate the swim and the chat, in the water, with a group of comfortable to be with friends.
I appreciate the return of the seniors, seeing and talking to people whom you knew in the past and yet has not been in contact with felt amazing.
I appreciate the fact that everybody has changed and yet the feel is still there.
I appreciate the friendship dance around the campfire tt made me felt still young at heart.
I appreciate the drawing cards session which ended the event for me.
I appreciate the efforts of the 2 guys for walking me to the bus station.
I appreciate the group that brought me to supper, saving a hungry girl in the process.
I appreciate the free ride home too.

The sentiment is mutual.

This is a long blog, on appreciation. All in all, I thank all my friends for being there today.
I really appreciate all my friendships, be it the fact that some of us have got nothing much to say to one another afterall.

And yes, thanks for the sms to inform that you will be away for a year. Take great care! :)

Back in Sg

Everything has been going on well. So far so good. I have safely arrived back home after a long journey overseas. Overall my experience at ncl was good, terrific in fact. I love the slackness there, the freedom and the weather. Not that I am not having my equal amount of freedom here and neither am I missing the raining season in ncl but things are different when u are alone. I appreciate that, the 6 months abroad and the friends there.

Thank you for the friends I made, the people I travel with, cook with, eat with, the strangers I talked to and smiled to, the terrible yet terrific cool weather, the flat, my 7-sided room, the small little school, the one and only shopping street and everything else. It was an excellent experience living overseas, travelling like nobody's business and best of all, travelling alone. I simply love that! :) Excellent Experience!

My day in short, the change in me.

I was in school today, reluctantly. All thanks to Keith, who told me about the lecture. Ya right. So... slacked the whole day in school though I did try to do some work. In vain though. Anyway, the lect said "basically, if you have not started on the assignment, you are in deep shit." and yes. I am in deep shit.

Forget that, I went to 2 birthday's parties tonight. One was my flatmate's bdae party which obviously took place at my flat. The other down ricky road at 28. Which is better? I prefered the one at 28. haha. Friendlier I guess. More cosy as well thought I "self-invited" myself there. Long story though. HAA.

and now. the deep shit me is gg to watch anime. Heck the assignment for once. I am so not gonna be like this in NUS man. else I am really really gg to be in deep shit. Byee for now! :D

Hmmm...What I have been doing.?!?

I feel happy. Somehow. The past week was horrible, esp when you know you have tons of work to be due soon and you have perfectly no clue on how to do it, when you are permanantly stuck watching anime when you are supposed to be doing something else more important, when you have a whole summer ahead of you to plan, booking flights and hostels and yet the budget airlines keeps raising their prices as time goes by. To top it up, when you quarrelled with your friend and a cold war starts. WTH!

But somehow things cleared. or rather I bothered. Did my school work, roughly planned summer, watched and still watching anime, took the initiative to talk to her, and more importantly, I bother to keep myself happy and fun! :D

So no.1, I am gg athens in summer. then bratislavia. Heh, this completes all the places I wanted to travel before I embarked on my SEP. Mainly athens, brati and prague which I alr did in easter! :)

no.2, I went to a fun fair. Ok, it was simply a small funfair at fenham field and you got to pay to take the rides. but at least I took one. it was 2 pounds. haha = S$6. not cheap right. but the ride was good and I videoed it throughout. haha.

There you go, the ride I took. Damn scary la. haha.

and the last thing to make things perfect. By treating myself Ben & Jerry's! :)

(Fear not Angel, this is the smallest tub you can find, not the big-sized one I used to eat in the States! heh @_@ )

Who is the one being played out?

I am sorry for this super complaining post but yes i am gg to complain. like hell.
who is the one being played out? I said i dun mind gg italy as in venice. and now it became an obligation tt i have to tour italy all over again. I promised coz it is unsafe for a gal to go alone. but was it a confirmation? And who is the one who played me out 1 yr ago and i ended up gg to the states alone for more than 2 months? I am just super disgusted by the tone u said i played u out when i did not even gave tt freaking tone 1 yr back. Karma. understand? Bloody hell.

Updates`

Yes. so now i am in ncl. again. But I am really loving my time spent here. Went running in the morning yesterday. Ended up lying on the grass, listening to music and dozing off. Played tennis today, ended up picking more balls than ever b4. Finished one of my assignment after being disciplined not to go out shopping this morning, or rather not to attend a band at noon in town. Picnic tml tentatively. And it is all because spring is here! I am so loving spring. Can't imagine gg back to the hot weather in sg.
I have been pondering over a qns recently. Should I try to apply for hall again? Pros and cons. Family vs frens. And I think i have an answer. sorry minmin.

Loving my life in Newcastle

I am beginning to love my life in NCL. The independence, the freedom, the friends, and of course, to make all things wonderful , the weather and how late the sun sets & yet how early it rises. True tt I do get the independence and freedom back home. "It's just not the same." haha how true... when a day ago I was still wondering tt tt statement don't make sense.

Well of course the retribution for travelling for so long is the workload tt piles up. To summarise, 2 assignments due in 2 weeks time, another 2 due in 1 month, and 2 exams 5 weeks later?!? haha. Not that I am complaining but it is not going to be easy, especially tt the 2 exams are both 100% exam-based on pyschology modules. Why do I even take those 2 modules in the 1st place?!?

Ok, anyway I finally saw this icon tt allows me to post pictures and so yes. You will see me up here real soon. In the meantime, enjoy life to the fullest and do no regrets. Play hard and work hard too! :D

End of Easter

It is the end of easter holidays last sunday UK time. The end of my 31 days of travel which ended yesterday, Monday. Obviously I skipped school on Monday, so as to spend a day in London.

31 days of travel. It really became a chore, especially when I left Spain which separated me and my family once again. I was pretty reluctant to carry on travelling but since all the flight tickets and accomodation was booked, I didn't have much of another choice. So off I was to carry on my adventurous travelling wheras my family returned back to our cosy home in sg.

31days is really long. I got tired after 2 weeks and wondered why I am tiring myself out. But as time passes by, travelling became so routine that I was pretty reluctant to return to ncl. Now as I am in ncl in my cosy 7-sided room, I became a bit reluctant to start plaaning for my summer trip. Haa how conflicting human beings can be.

But I am glad that I have spent the easter out of ncl. Although I did miss the chance of getting to know my ncl peeps better, I got to know myself a bit more. The ugly side of me. & this is good. At least now I know how to say things, and esp, how not to keep my feelings unknown.

I want to live a happy girl, happy lady, happy woman and a happy old lady.

MICHELLE

"Michelle can almost do the impossible. Her considerable intelligence and disarming manner assures her of success. With a zest for life, she has great interests in sport, music and the arts. Knowing Michelle is an interesting experience."

I certainly hope so.

What are the keys to your heart?

The Keys to Your Heart :

You are attracted to good manners and elegance.

In love, you feel the most alive when your partner is patient and never willing to give up on you.

You'd like to your lover to think you are optimistic and happy.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is low. Even if you're tempted, you'd try hard not to do it.

You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you don't need. You just feel like flirting around and playing right now.

Pictures supposedly

OKie Dokies. I wanted to share with u how my life is like these days thru pictures but apparently I have got no idea at all how to upload my pics to here. so ya, happy waiting for my pics while I will happily go for my Man Utd vs Europe XI tomorrow at old trafford! :) haha my 2nd trip to the stadium and 3rd trip to manchester within a month?!!? and the watching the match Man U vs Lilles live was terrific! haha will definitely say more about it when I am slightly free-er. Soon.

Oh and I learnt sth on sunday, A tragedy is not a sin but a sin is a tragedy. What does it tells you? I thought immediately of 1+1=2 but 2 may not be 1+1. Make sense?

Man U vs Liverpool

Weelllll. I am at Newcastle but was watching a man u vs liverpool match. All thanks to all the influence back home. :) And yes! Man u scored at the 91min. or 92? aiya anyway after 90 min. Nice goal! :D wahhahaha. karen and jason must be so happy right? :p And it is really cool watching it here. Imagine if you were at Anfield...

anyway ya fish , I am gg down to watch a man u match just as u have said it, go catch a match while i am here. so yah :p. Dun get too jealous, I'll take lots of pictures at old trafford to show u guys! :)

And so, what do you do after watching a match? Chit-chat, talk, eat.. and back to my cosy room. Cosy is another word for small room. Now I know. So that's probably all about life in UK in general. Of course I missed out the drinking part. haha.

How high is your alcohol tolerance if you are drunk after 1 tequila shot, 1 pint of beer, 1 jug of cranberry vodka, 1 flaminglambogini, 1 dunno what ladies drink? Can someone who drinks a lot enlighten me?

Maximising my time

I was on msn. Someone told me to maximise my time here. I decided. I should. Why not?
It makes perfect sense to say that but I guess I was lost somewhere along the way. All thanks to some idiots who stir things up. Doesn't it all happen to us at some moment in time? Why the hell am I on exchange? To experience something new isn't it? But I am so reliant on the Singaporeans here as well. That sucks. Having 2 other singaporeans in the same stage as me doesn't help, neither does having another 2 exchange students from sg who are also doing chem eng. Why the hell are so many sg pple doing this course?

Anyway, what are the things that I should be doing to maximise my time???
Dye my hair? Cut my hair? I have already done those.
Wat else? Salsa? Been there done that.
Travel? Not when I am not feeling damn bloody rich.
Club? Pub? Drink? Argh...that sucks.
Eating? haha $$. twice a week out sounds really luxorious doesnt it? (well, then again, in sg probably not but using the currency here, u gotta really think twice. yes! and think about this...
Do u live to eat or eat to live? See my point?)
Well.. what else? any suggestions?

In the meantime I shall do something which I really enjoy. Sleep. Nite.

Arriving at Newcastle

So how was it since I arrived in Newcastle?
"Well, not too bad." That's my standard reply. So how are you? I seriously hate this question, pple here can ask u how are u early in the morning, when you get off from classes, when you first met them, when u accidentally bump into them or even as a greeting. I mean how can I tell you how am I when I don't even know how I am. I know this is a simple question that does not requires any real answer as to how you really are but nope! I hate this. It is so disturbing to me coz I have to think about how I really am before answering. I think a simple "Hi" without the "how are you?" is so much more friendlier coz then we can go on to other topic without saying how exactly you are. Ok, enough of this crap.

So Newcastle. Studying here is really slack. I wonder if the students do study. I came here to experience a different educational system but I would say it is pretty much the same. Lecturers go on and on and the students take notes and the whole class is quiet. Isn't it the same? But then again, the professors here are on much friendlier terms with us than back there. Oh! and I really appreciate my coordinator who happens to be a chem eng prof. Thank you for taking care of me here thus far! :D

And so...I have been to Edinburgh, Sunderland, York, Liverpool, Manchester, and...more to come :P Sterling pounds is really heavy. The exchange rate can kill. A bit more than a month here and I have stopped converting. Makes my life happier and also that means I tend to spend more! haha. A 5 pounds meal is so fine to me now but convert back, it is $15! Imagine spending that amount on every single meal....So, I still scrimp when I can. Haha!

The Days prior leaving for Newcastle

Going to Newcastle for exchange for half a year. I was not looking forward to it then, I guess my family made me appreciate their presence more in the recent days, and I guess I would miss having them around, though I know they will definitely be there when I need them .

Meeting up with friends just because you are going to leave for half a year is such a good excuse to make pple come out from their holes. I like the day when I managed to bake cookies with Michelle & Yanhan, managed to meet Kenny and then followed by Yinshuo. At least the day and night was filled to the max and I was at my crankiest.

I also appreciated the day with Eeling, Caiqun and Jiayan. So typical of us to meet at Bedok hawker to makan and talk for like 4 hrs!?!????????!!! I guess friendship will still last even though we do not talk to each other as often as before, isn't it , 10? I feel good chatting to you guys at that moment.

And thanks guys for sending me off! Angel and Terrence, Cat, Cyn, Lay, Hel, Tee, Silk, JJ, Qx, Ys. :) Thanks loh! It was quite a mad rush coz I tried my best to look good while leaving in front of you guys but I actually got to the wrong gate inside. Mistook 56 for 59. How lousy can I get... Super paiseh lah. And thanks papa, mama, karen, jojo and second uncle for sending me off too!

Decided to carry on blogging

I thought I shouldn't blog on, I am still not the type to blog. Feels exposed blogging. But then again, I thought I should share what life here's like, so here I am! :)

So I am now in Newcastle, the one in UK. Would be on exchange here till mid-june. Just past a month since I arrived and seriously, I don't miss home. I was actually being popped this qns :" Don't you ever miss home? " And I did thought over it seriously and the answer was no. It seems like I am pretty unfilial.

So, I guess I shld talk about what had happened so far isn't it? Wait. This is going to take quite a long time. But first, happy CNY, happy V-day and happy whatever tt has just passed.
